What Happens on the Official Side
Everything above is our process. This is the official one that runs alongside it, so you can see where your application actually goes. The facts in this section come from the Ukrainian government’s own study portal at studyinukraine.gov.ua, operated by the Ukrainian State Centre for International Education under the Ministry of Education and Science.
- The university issues an Invitation for Study. It is issued after the university has accepted your admission and verified your documents. The official portal states that the digital invitation is valid for 6 months.
- You apply for a Type D student visa at the Ukrainian embassy or consulate serving your country. The invitation is the document that confirms the purpose of your trip.
- You travel, and registration begins. A stay longer than 90 days requires a Temporary Residence Permit, which we handle with you after arrival.
Documents the consulate asks for
The official portal lists the following for a Type D student visa application:
- A valid passport
- A completed and signed visa application form
- One colour photograph, 35 × 45 mm
- Valid health insurance
- Proof of payment of the consular fee
- The Invitation for Study, as the document confirming the purpose of your trip
- Biometric data — fingerprints and a facial photograph
The official portal states that any document issued by authorities in another country must be officially legalised and submitted with a certified translation into Ukrainian, or into English where Ukrainian is not available.
This is the step that most often delays students, because it happens in your own country before anything else can move. Begin it as soon as you decide to apply, not after you receive an invitation.
The state application fee
The official portal states an application fee of 3,100 UAH, paid once. That is a state fee within the admission system. It is separate from university tuition and separate from our service fee — see our fees page for how the three differ and when each is paid.
Requirements and fees are set by the Ukrainian authorities and by individual universities, and they change. We have stated the position as the official portal publishes it at the time of writing. Confirm the current requirements with the embassy or consulate serving your country before you rely on them, and ask us if anything is unclear.
