Kyiv Polytechnic Institute was founded in 1898 consisting 4 branches: mechanical, agricultural, engineering and chemical. The first rector of the institute was a renowned scientist and educator VL Kyrpychov, and the first Head of the State Examination Commission in 1903 – D.I.Mendelyeyev. Founders KPI embodied the best traditions of famous European higher technical schools: Paris’ Ecole Polytechnic “, Aachen, Vienna, Technical University of Magdeburg. The basis of the system of higher technical education was a combination of deep natural sciences, basic training in physics, mathematics, chemistry and other disciplines with general engineering and obtain professional and practical skills in production and scientific institutions. These principles KPI carries throughout history .Among graduates KPI – the world-famous designer of airplanes and helicopters Sikorsky, creator of turbojet engines Arkhip Lulka, designers rocket
space and aviation technology Sergei Korolyov and Vladimir Chelomei, metallurgist John Bardeen,

Accomodation facilities
For settlement into dormitory foreign student must have
1. Obtain reference for settlement (building 31, room 2-03);
2. Fill the agreement on settlement in the Student administration office;
3. Disburse the settlement in the Student administration office booking office;
4. Obtain a permission for settlement in the Student administration office;
5. Obtain an entry pass in the Access control department (№3, Metalistov Str.)
6. Go through medical testing (№.3,Getmana Str., 4th Floor, Room. № 413)
• a blood test for HIV;
• fluorography;
• dermatologist examination;
• physician examination;
• Malaria test.
Permit for temporary residence in Ukraine
To obtain a Permit for temporary residence in Ukraine foreign citizen within three days after arriving in Ukraine shall submit to the division of passport and visa of the Centre for International Education and the following documents:
After the end of training in the absence of grounds for extension of a temporary residence foreigner is obliged:
1. In seven days to withdraw the registration of residence.
2. Return a card of temporary residence in Ukraine and passport to the division of passport and visa of the Centre of International Education (building number 31, room. 2-01).
3. Leave Ukraine.
Failure to leave Ukraine after the expiration of the period of study entails a fine from 510 to 850 UAH.
Medical insurance
Foreign citizens are obliged to have an insurance policy in order to get emergency medical assistance. Insurance Policy fee is determined according to an agreement with insurance company (380-480 UAH per year against insurance company). Telephone numbers are provided in the agreement.

Students and postgraduates are obliged to pass medical examination every year and undergo medical tests proving AIDS absence. Students from Africa need undergo tests proving malaria absence as well. Medical service fee is 700 UAH per year.

Academic Time Table

The academic year at KPI is divided into two teaching semesters.
Students are required to remain at the University until assessments for all their courses have been completed and should not make any arrangements for leaving the University before they know the dates of their examinations. The exam timetable is published towards the end of the Autumn/Spring semester.
Holidays in Ukraine

There are ten public holidays in Ukraine when offices, banks, and many shops are closed and public transport is more limited. When a public holiday falls on a weekend (e.g. Sunday), the following working day (e.g. Monday) turns into an official day off too.

ADMISSION

In order to gain admission & a student visa to study in the Ukraine you must apply for an “Invitation Letter”. To get an
invitation letter you must fill in a form (provided by Study In Ukraine Today) and include the following details:

• A high quality scanned copy of your passport
• High quality scanned copies of all relevant educational certificates e.g. “O” level or “A” level certificate, SSCE,

Upon receiving an invitation letter, the student will contact the Ukraine embassy in his / her country in order to
apply for the student visa.
Note: Most Ukrainian embassies usually accept student visa applications and issue student visas throughout
the year. In some countries the embassy starts accepting visa applications and issues visas between 15th July
and 15th November. Extensions in these cases are made for the preparatory course until November or
December.
The following documents should be submitted to the Ukrainian embassy as part of the visa application process:
• A filled visa application form
• International passport valid for one year or more
• Original invitation letter from the college
• Birth certificate – Translated into Ukrainian.
• Note: The translation is done at the Ukrainian embassy at a small cost (usually between $60-$85).
• Original School Certificates – Translated into Ukrainian.
• Medical Certificate-Issued within one month of visa application and is translated into Ukrainian. This must
be an approved document by the health ministry in your country.
• HIV-AIDS negative certificate- Issued within one month of visa application and translated into Ukrainian.
This must also be an approved document by the health ministry in your country.
• One year health insurance-For some countries the insurance required is only for the travelling period.
• A bank statement from the sponsor to prove their financial ability to bear the student’s expenses in Ukraine.
If the sponsor is not the student or their parent, a sponsorship letter is going to be required.
• 12 passport size pictures (3 * 4 cm)
• An open return air ticket valid for one year

After getting the visa e-mail us the scanned copy of the documents in the list above.
NB: Ensure you have all the required documents before leaving your country. Entry into Ukraine will be denied if
you’re missing an important document.
We’ll assist you with the airport pickup and transfers from the international airports in Ukraine i.e. Borispol
International Airport or LvivDanylo Halytskyi International Airport. You must inform us before or after booking the
ticket so that we can arrange for the pickup.
