Ternopil Ivan Pul’uj National Technical University

The University is named after John Pulyuya – our prominent compatriot, the famous physicist and electrical engineering, socio-political activist, scholar and patriot of Ukraine.
Born John Puliui February 2, 1845 in the town Hrymaylovi. In 1864 he graduated from the Ternopil school. To continue his education the young man goes on foot to the capital of Austria-Hungary and five years masters course of theology, and later graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy and the University of Vienna. His artistic creed in science elect John Puliui study of physical processes and phenomena.
Having Vienna rank of assistant professor, scientist over thirty years (1884-1916) was a professor of German Prague Polytechnic Institute, served as dean of the Faculty of Physics and rector of the institution.

The global scientific community knows Professor Pulyuya as prominent theorist and experimentalist, author of many scientific papers extraordinary, original and valuable inventions, generally specialist in the construction of power plants, highly qualified specialist in ancient languages.
John Puliui was at the forefront of one of the greatest achievements of mankind – the opening “X” -rays received the first high-quality pictures with their application. All experiments with “X” -rays scientist conducted with vacuum tubes of his own design. The object of his attention were also problems of molecular physics, the study of nature and properties of cathode rays. He has published dozens of articles and pamphlets, more than 50 scientific papers.

John Puliui – great original interpreter of the Bible, Psalms, prayer. Widely known for his active stance to protect the rights of the Ukrainian nation, its political freedoms, mother tongue, great organizational work on the cultural and educational field. The scientist created a fund for the poor Ukrainian students who studied abroad, contributed to solving the problems of Ukrainian refugees during World War II.
Died outstanding scientist and public figure Ivan cultural Puliui January 31, 1918 in Prague, where he is buried.Opening and labor left him, written in the history of world science.
